Seismic Protection of Bridges with Modern Technologies
State-of-the-Art Review and
Future Perspectives
Modern seismic protection technologies are increasingly focused on reducing the seismic forces transmitted to structures, rather than relying primarily on structural resistance and ductility. In this framework, seismic isolation and energy dissipation — especially when used in combination — provide advanced solutions to improve safety, resilience, and durability. For bridges, where seismic devices can replace conventional bearings, these technologies are particularly effective for both new structures and the upgrading of existing infrastructure.
The ASSISi 2027 Conference will bring together researchers, practitioners, designers, manufacturers, infrastructure owners and public authorities to review recent advances and future perspectives in the seismic protection of bridges and related infrastructure.
Visits to selected seismically protected structures in Central Italy are planned within the conference programme.
Papers submitted and presented at ASSISi 2027 will be considered for publication in BER - International Journal of Bridge Engineering, Management and Research, subject to peer review.
The University of Camerino provides the academic setting for ASSISi 2027, bringing together expertise across engineering, geology and seismic risk within a university community with a long scientific tradition.
Camerino is also a particularly meaningful setting for a conference devoted to seismic protection. The city and the surrounding area were severely affected by the 2016 Central Italy earthquakes, and the ongoing process of recovery and reconstruction provides a direct context for discussing resilience, seismic safety and the protection of infrastructure.
The scientific sessions and main Conference activities will take place at the Polo Didattico Sant’Agostino of the University of Camerino, in Camerino, Italy. Further practical information will be announced closer to the conference.
International experts in seismic isolation, energy dissipation and bridge engineering.
Authors are invited to submit an abstract through the online submission form. The form will collect the title, topic, corresponding author, authors and affiliations, keywords and abstract text.
Submission confirmation: After submitting your abstract, you will receive an automatic confirmation email containing your Paper ID. Please check your inbox, including your spam/junk folder, and keep your Paper ID for future correspondence.
Full-paper submission instructions will be provided at a later stage to authors of accepted abstracts.
Registration and online payment will open at a later stage. Registration fees, Early Bird rates and the services included in the conference package are already available.
Patronage acknowledgements will be added as confirmations are received.
We are pleased to have already received several expressions of interest in sponsorship for ASSISi 2027. The list of confirmed sponsors and exhibitors will be published here once the relevant agreements have been formalized.
Organizations interested in supporting the Conference are invited to explore the available opportunities in the Sponsorship & Exhibition Brochure and contact the Conference Secretariat for further information.
Please note that exhibition space is limited. Spaces will be allocated in order of formal confirmation of sponsorship, subject to availability.
