International Thematic Conference

ASSISi 2027

Seismic Protection of Bridges with Modern Technologies
State-of-the-Art Review and Future Perspectives

21–25 June 2027 · Camerino, Italy

The Conference

Modern seismic protection technologies are increasingly focused on reducing the seismic forces transmitted to structures, rather than relying primarily on structural resistance and ductility. In this framework, seismic isolation and energy dissipation — especially when used in combination — provide advanced solutions to improve safety, resilience, and durability. For bridges, where seismic devices can replace conventional bearings, these technologies are particularly effective for both new structures and the upgrading of existing infrastructure.

The ASSISi 2027 Conference will bring together researchers, practitioners, designers, manufacturers, infrastructure owners and public authorities to review recent advances and future perspectives in the seismic protection of bridges and related infrastructure.

Technical visits

Visits to selected seismically protected structures in Central Italy are planned within the conference programme.

Camerino and the University

The University of Camerino provides the academic setting for ASSISi 2027, bringing together expertise across engineering, geology and seismic risk within a university community with a long scientific tradition.

Camerino is also a particularly meaningful setting for a conference devoted to seismic protection. The city and the surrounding area were severely affected by the 2016 Central Italy earthquakes, and the ongoing process of recovery and reconstruction provides a direct context for discussing resilience, seismic safety and the protection of infrastructure.
